Nunavut cop charged with two counts of assault
Off-duty RCMP member on leave in Pond Inlet when charges laid
An Iqaluit RCMP officer faces two assault charges after being arrested in Pond Inlet March 14.
Const. Eric Ootoovak was arrested after Pond Inlet police responded to a disturbance at a home last Sunday night.
He’s been released and will appear before the Nunavut Court of Justice in Pond Inlet June 1.
In a news release, RCMP said Ootoovak was off duty and on extended leave from the force.
Ootoovak now also faces a separate Code of Conduct investigation under the RCMP Act.
