A young woman is in stable condition after being struck by an all-terrain vehicle in Rankin Inlet April 20.

In an April 30 news release, the Nunavut RCMP said the young woman was struck while crossing Williamson Lake, located in the centre of town, with a group of friends.

Police said they will not release her name and identity. The woman was being treated in a Winnipeg hospital.

A man, who police did not identify, faces charges of dangerous driving causing injury and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Police said in a news release that people should abide by the rules of the road.
