RCMP treating Rankin Inlet man’s death as a homicide
David Manilak, 30, died May 9
Police in Nunavut say they are treating the recent death of a Rankin Inlet man as a homicide.
Late May 8, members of the RCMP and first responders were called to aid a 30-year-old man described as being in “medical distress.”
The man, who has been identified as David Manilak, died early May 9.
The RCMP wouldn’t comment on any arrests related to the death, although its V Division Forensic Identification and Major Crime Units are each still investigating.
RCMP spokeswoman Yvonne Niego said the case is progressing but that the investigation would likely be “lengthy.”
This would be Nunavut’s first known homicide of 2014.
