Police seek information on stabbing near Iqaluit patient boarding home
George Audlakiak, 45, charged in connection with Sept. 14 incident

The Iqaluit RCMP detachment is investigating a stabbing incident that occurred Sept. 14 near the Tammaativvik patient boarding home in Iqaluit, with police asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them, a Sept. 17 RCMP news release said.
On Sept. 14, police responded to a call at the patient boarding home about a man who had been stabbed at a nearby location.
Nunatsiaq News has learned that the stabbing did not occur inside the boarding home. The stabbing victim had gone there to seek help.
Police who arrived at the home found a man suffering from a “life threatening injury.” The man was rushed to the Qikiqtani General Hospital and then flown to Ottawa for more care.
George Audlakiak, 45, appeared at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit on Sept. 17, and will return to court Oct. 2.
Audlakiak faces charges of aggravated assault and failure to comply with conditions.
Meanwhile, police in Iqaluit continue their investigation.
