It’ll be lights out in a few Nunavut communities this weekend, as crews with the Qulliq Energy Corp. do local upgrades.

In Pond Inlet, some residents would have already experienced a power outage early June 20. More planned outages are scheduled for certain areas of Pond Inlet June 21 between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

That’s when line crews will perform upgrades to the local distribution system.

In Naujaat-Repulse Bay, the QEC is warning customers about planned outages June 21 and 22, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

And in Gjoa Haven, outages are planned for June 21 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. That outage will affect some residences and businesses, including the Northern store, co-op store, cable TV transmitter, the hamlet office, health clinic and RCMP detachment.
