A rainbow greets people in Pangnirtung on the morning of Sept. 24, even as the community was buffeted by winds of up to 100 kilometres an hour. Due to power outages, closed schools and closed government offices, an emergency centre was set up at Attagoyuk High School, which is equipped with a generator. Environment Canada has now ended the wind warning for Pangnirtung. A wind warning remains in effect for Coral Harbour, where Environment Canada says

A wind warning remains in effect for Coral Harbour, where Environment Canada says "damaging winds are imminent or occurring" due to an intense low pressure system approaching from the east.
