Photo: Two young Kangiqsualujjuaq women are “Ones to Watch”

NUNATSIAQ NEWS
Kangiqsualujjuaq athletes Andrea Brazeau, centre and Julia St-Aubin, right, have made the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity’s list of most influential women of 2013. The non-profit organization, dedicated to engaging girls and women in sports, chose Brazeau and St-Aubin as “Ones to Watch” for their community leadership and work towards the well-being of young Nunavimmiut. Both girls have played for Nunavik’s first and only Nordiks girls’ midget team, leading the team to victory at an Ottawa tournament in 2013. Brazeau and St-Aubin, still teens, have also toured the region to promote healthy living. “Both of these young athletes are proof that you can make an impact that reaches far and wide, even from a remote community,” CAAWS said.
