NUNATSIAQ NEWS
Tanya Tagaq's new album Animism has made the long list for the Polaris Music Prize, a not-for-profit organization that honours diversity in Canada's music scene, and often independent and up-and-coming groups. Animism, Tagaq's third album, was named to the long list with 39 other artists, including Arcade Fire, Cowboy Junkies, Drake and Timber Timbre. The Polaris jury will narrow that list down to ten next month, before announcing and awarding the winning artist $30,000 in September. (PHOTO COURTESY OF SIX SHOOTER RECORDS)
