"Culture Shock," the new album by Nunavik songwriter and musician Etua Snowball, received an Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award Nov. 1 for Best Rock CD of 2012. "Born and raised in and around Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, Edward Snowball, a.k.a. Sinuupa, first picked up a guitar at age 15. Ever since that time, music has never left his side and became a natural way of expressing himself," says a short biography on the music choice award's website. In "Culture Shock" he uses English and Inuktitut "to explore the Inuit's view of southern culture, and vice versa, and the impact that their coming together has had on the way of life up North." You can listen to soundtracks from the album at http://bit.ly/SBYRv4. (IMAGE/"CULTURE SHOCK" ALBUM COVER)
