Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami teamed up with students of Ottawa-based Nunavut Sivuniksavut March 18 at a Parliament Hill demonstration to show their opposition to the European Union’s 2009 import ban on seal products as the World Trade Organization begins hearing an appeal by Canada and Norway to a WTO decision to uphold the ban. As part of the demonstration, student Shauna Angangai Seeteenak and her classmates take part in a sealskin fashion show to illustrate their support of Inuit culture and livelihoods and the sustainable use and trade of seal products.
