Ottawa roots singer-songwriter Lynn Miles and multi-instrumentalist Keith Glass dropped by Inuksuk High School May 23 to conduct a music workshop. Ten students from Grades 9 to 12, some of them in a guitar club, sat in rapt attention to learn from the veteran performers. "They're great kids," said Rob Morton, who's substituting while music teacher Mary Piercey is away. "They want to learn and I guarantee, on Monday morning in class, they'll be here imitating what he's doing until they get it right," referring to Glass. "They're a dedicated group of kids." Miles and Glass will perform at Inuksuk on Saturday, May 24, as part of the Alianait concert series, with the opening act duo of Natashia Allakariallak Stevenson and Christine Tootoo. Miles and Glass will conduct a public songwriting and guitar workshop at 4 p.m. May 25 at the Francophone Centre. (PHOTO BY LISA GREGOIRE)
