SPECIAL TO NUNATSIAQ NEWS
Volunteers, who worked with Kuujjuaq's Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce branch to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, are all smiles Sept. 22 at their successful fundraising brunch at the Kuujjuaq Inn. Next year, they plan to host another brunch as well as a Run for the Cure, as is done in many communities across Canada. Raffle tickets were also drawn at the brunch for prizes which included First Air and Air Inuit airplane tickets, a 32-inch LCD HD television from Newviq'vik store, a compressor from the Northern store, three-months free Internet from Tamaani internet service provider and gift certificates from Tivi Galleries. The Run for the Cure brunch and raffles raised $7,000 for breast cancer research — $2,500 more than in 2012. (PHOTO BY ISABELLE DUBOIS)
