An empty can lies among a heap of garbage near Arctic Ventures. The city of Iqaluit is asking people to help clean up garbage like this around the city on Friday June 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The community clean-up team will gather outside the Unikkaarvik visitors centre in the morning, giving out free coffee and timbits for those who want to help out — but don’t forget to bring your own coffee mug to keep Iqaluit sustainable. A free lunch will then be held at noon outside the Arnaitok city arena where hotdogs and hamburgers will be served. (PHOTO BY DAVID MURPHY)
