Iqaluit Fire Chief Luc Grandmaison and members of the Office of the Fire Marshall look at what's left of building 2551 in the Tundra Valley subdivision of Iqaluit Feb. 5. Last night, Feb. 4, a fire destroyed most of the interior of the house. No one was hurt but one person, inside the home at the time, is now homeless. Grandmaison said the fire department received a call around 9:05 p.m. and 20 firefighters responded throughout the night in temperatures that fell to -41 C with the windchill. Grandmaison met with the office of the fire marshall this morning, and an investigation to determine the cause of the fire is underway. The damage costs are estimated at around $250,000.
