SPECIAL TO NUNATSIAQ NEWS
Vicki Aitaok, Janice Tologanak, Denise Peterson, Caitlyn Peterson, Monica Bourque, Beth Bellamy and Janice Muise don mustaches Nov. 10 at an "Mo-vember" event in Cambridge Bay to raise money to promote awareness of prostrate cancer. During November or "Movember," men can grow moustaches — and then shave them off — to raise money for prostate cancer-related programs and research. Organizers of the Nov. 10 event charged a $5 entrance fee which included a chance to win many door prizes. "The mustaches were free for those who wanted them. Some of the girls wore their "Mo's" all evening," said organizer Angela Philips. As well, there was live music from the local Latitude 69 band and bagpiper Kelli Gillard.
The $3,969.31 raised by the event will be donated to CamBay's Movember team, who plan to shave off their mustaches later this month. (PHOTO BY RED SUN PRODUCTIONS)
