At Iqaluit's Ecole des Trois-Soleils' 15th anniversary as Nunavut's sole French-language school, elder Alacie Joamie helps students learn about lighting a qulliq. In front of an audience of roughly 140 parents and students, teacher Simon Houle spoke about the school's beginning—and its growth from  serving 35 students to nearly three times that many today. Paul Okalik, MLA for Iqaluit-Sinaa, and Nunavut's deputy minister of education, Kathy Okpik, also attended the event which included throat-singing from Marie Belleau and Celina Kalluk and a huge cake to share.
