Manasie Thompson of Arviat tries out the Google Glass this week as part of a local workshop of new media development in the Kivalliq community. University of North Dakota communications professor Timothy Pasch brought the technology to Arviat to discuss its future potential in Nunavut, like the idea of embedding cultural knowledge by GPS. Pasch and other researchers are working with local youth on mobile application development for iPads and iPhones, with a focus on health, culture and the Inuit language.
