If you’re shopping for wieners or sausages at your local Arctic Co-ops Ltd. or North West Co. retail store, be careful what you buy.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for a long list of wiener and sausage products manufactured by the Saskatchewan-based Harvest Meats Co. Ltd.

Located on Highway 16 just outside Yorkton, Sask., Harvest Meats supplies meat products to many retailers, including Arctic Co-operatives Ltd., the North West Co., Giant Tiger, Costco, Walmart, Safeway, Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys and many others.

The federal alert covers a range of sausage and wiener products distributed throughout Nunavut,  the Northwest Territories, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The CFIA alert said the listed products contain “unsuitable ingredients,” but did not state what those ingredients are or what health effects they may create if consumed.

The affected products carry best before dates of Aug. 14, Aug. 15, Aug. 28, Aug. 29 and Sept. 1, depending on the product.
