Do you know a woman in your community who deserves recognition?

Qullit Nunavut Status of Women is collecting nominations for Nunavummiut role models: women who provide volunteer, or provide counselling and caregiver services to their communities.

The group’s Wise Women and Outstanding Young Woman Awards recognized advocacy work done to improve the status of women across the territory.

Last year’s “wise woman” was Renata Solski, while the outstanding young woman award went to Syvlia Cloutier. Each was awarded for their contributions to Nunavut’s arts sector.

To nominate someone for the award, you must explain what the candidate has done to improve the lives of women in your community or in the region, along with how long she has been active in the community.

The awards are give only once in a lifetime. Each nomination must be signed by two nominators.

For applications, call 1-866-623-0346 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Nominations close Feb. 14.

The Wise Women and Outstanding Young Woman Awards will be announced on March 8.
