NDP will hold the Tories accountable, Nunavik MP says
Romeo Saganash vows to "defend tooth and nail the public services that define our nation”
As Parliament resumes sitting in Ottawa, Romeo Saganash, the New Democratic Party MP for Abitibi-James Bay-Nunavik-Eeyou, said he intends to defend the public services his constituents rely on.
“Our priority is to defend the interests of citizens that are working harder than ever to make ends meet,” said Saganash in a Sept. 18 news release. “The Conservatives claim that public services like employment insurance, the public health system and Old Age Security are too costly, while they give billions of dollars in handouts to the oil industry in subsidies and tax breaks. It’s irresponsible.”
This fall, the NDP plans to continue holding “the Conservatives accountable for the scandals and ethical lapses that plague their government.”
“We’re seeing Conservative ministers using taxpayers’ money to serve their own interests and a prime minister who has only one priority: to defend his good friends in high places,” Saganash said. “We must call the government to order, and that’s what I’ll do this fall.”
This fall, the NDP will also continue “to oppose the Conservatives’ reckless choices and defend tooth and nail the public services that define our nation,” he said.
