Man charged following fracas outside Iqaluit dry cleaning firm
Accused to appear in court by month’s end
RCMP have charged an Iqaluit man after two men got into a fight Jan. 30 outside building 1057, which houses an Iqaluit dry cleaning business, an RCMP news release said.
During the brawl, an Iqaluit taxi driver is alleged to have used a small knife, along with his automobile, as weapons against another Iqaluit man.
No one suffered any serious injuries in the incident.
Abdullahi Omar, 48, has been charged with the following offences: two counts of assault with a weapon; operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering a threat.
Omar was released from custody by a Justice of the Peace on the condition that he attend court at the end of February.
