Come to the Navigator Inn this Dec. 15 to get a photo with Santa and donate money to the Iqaluit Angel Tree Society, which provides up to 200 kids with gifts during Christmas and in times of need.

If you’re interested in keeping the Iqaluit Angel Tree Society up and running, you can go to the Navigator Inn between 2 p.m and 6 p.m this Saturday, Dec. 15 to meet Santa, have your photos taken, participate in raffles and buy angels from the angel tree.

Photos will be taken in exchange for a donation. Any amount will be accepted.

Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each and there is no limit to how many you can buy.

There will be prizes from Iqaluit retailers such as:
• Stuff 2 Do Toys & Games

• Nuschool

• Malikkaat

• Baffin Flowers & Gifts

• Jingle House

• Caribou Cabs; and

• Pai-Pa Taxi

All proceeds received during the event are donated to the Iqaluit Angel Tree Society, which provides gifts to children 0-18 years old at Christmas and in times of need throughout the year in Iqaluit.

More than 200 kids are slated to receive Christmas gifts from the volunteer group, even though the Iqaluit Angel Tree Christmas gift donation campaign almost didn’t take place this year.

That’s because its lead organizer left Iqaluit.

But plans are in the works to keep the Iqaluit Angel Tree Society going.

If you’re a family interested in receiving gifts for your kids from the Iqaluit Angel Tree, you can fill out an application at the income support office at the first floor of the Brown Building, building number 940.

You can also consult the Iqaluit Angel Tree’s Facebook group for updates about events and where to donate, and contact information for potential volunteers.

If you are a local business and would like to donate a prize for the Dec. 15 raffle, you can contact Jerry from Stuff 2 Do Toys and Games at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

The event is open for all businesses to participate in and for everyone in the community to attend.
