Cops seize seven pounds of weed bound for Cape Dorset
Police allege passenger from Montreal carried weed, booze, scales, baggies
RCMP members in Cape Dorset intercepted a big weed shipment July 18 after searching a passenger who had returned to the community from Montreal.
Police grabbed seven pounds of marijuana, an electronic scale and numerous gram-sized baggies from the passenger’s luggage, an RCMP news release said.
They also seized 12 mickey bottles and one twenty-sixer of Smirnoff vodka, 11 cans of beer, and four pipes.
Police made the bust after getting information from the public.
“This seizure will significantly reduce crime and prevent further harm to families in Cape Dorset and we appreciate the support and assistance from the community,” Cst. Rodney MacIntyre said.
Eva Takiasuk, 23, of Cape Dorset, faces a charge of being in possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and unlawful possession of liquor.
Takiasuk, who has been released from custody, is to appear in court Aug. 20 in Cape Dorset.
