Nunavut’s health department is warning consumers about a recall issued for a brand of organic green tea sold in the territory.

That’s because drinking Organic Hojicha Green Tea could make you sick.

Organic Matters recalled its Organic Hojicha Green Tea late last week due to salmonella contamination.

Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include vomiting, nausea, fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, which generally last a few days.

Pregnant women, young children and elders are at a higher risk of becoming ill, the Government of Nunavut said May 17.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says all recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

You can find more detailed information about the Organic Hojicha Green Tea recall on the CFIA’s website.
