A heartfelt thanks!

NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Christmas is a time for thanks. I guess this is my turn!

I first got a taste of Nunavut in 1975 it has never left me. Since then I have followed my camera to wherever it took me in the territory, fascinated by the land, its people and their culture.

It is now time to give back. I am working with the Government of Nunavut to bequeath my northern photo collection to the government so that it can be put on a website for all to enjoy.

However, I first need to ensure that the collection catalogues the name of each event, place and individual in every photograph so that it can provide an accurate historical document.

To this end I will be visiting several communities next April and May to finalise my Inuit Naming Project, something only possible due to the generosity of many individuals and organisations who believe in this endeavour.

I would like to extend my appreciation to the following for their much needed financial support:

Atiilu Real Estate & Property Management
BPO Elks
C and K Services Ltd.
Concentric Associates International Inc.
First Air Ltd.
Inuit Heritage Trust
Kudlik Construction
Lawlor Mechanical
Livingstone Architect
NCC Investment Group
Northern Properties REIT
Nunastar Properties Inc.
Qikiqtani Inuit Association
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 168
The Driving Force Nunavut
TD Bank Group
Tower Arctic Ltd.
True North Properties Group

I would also like to express my appreciation to the GN for its willingness to partner in this legacy and to Brent Crooks for his initiative and exceptional effort in promoting this project and helping to make it a reality.
