NTI jobs go part-time
Nunatsiaq News
IQALUIT In an effort to cut costs, NTI has made two of
its top jobs part-time.
At its board meeting in Qikiqtarjuaq earlier this month, Nunavut
Tunngavik Inc. changed the positions of vice-president of finance
and second vice-president from full-time to part-time jobs.
The decision was in response to a study conducted earlier this
year that showed the two jobs could be done by part-time employees.
Reducing the positions to part-time would save NTI money, the
study found.
The job of vice-president of finance will become part-time in
December, when the new election for that position will be held.
The next election for the job of second vice-president will be
in 2003. Until then, the job will remain full-time.
NTI also decided at its board meeting that, as of the December
election, the vice-president of finance will not have to live
in Rankin Inlet, where the NTI finance department is located.
