Money for rocks in
Nunavik

IQALUIT The Nunavik Mineral Exploration Fund is holding
its second annual rock contest to reward new mineral discoveries
in Nunavik.
The rocks submitted must be the "size of a fist," and,
according to the contest rules, must be new discoveries not
samples from known deposits.
Entries must include a map of each samples location and
a completed application form, which is available from municipal
offices.
Shipping the rocks to Kuujjuaq is at the participants expense,
but theres no limit on the number of samples that can be
submitted.
The first prize of $2,500 is sponsored by the giant mining companies
Falconbridge Ltd. and Noranda. The second prize of $2,000 is sponsored
by WMC, an Australian company that has been looking for copper
near Kuujjuaq.
The contest ends on Oct. 31.
