Avataq gets new prez

Nunatsiaq News

IQALUIT — Nunavik's cultural institute has a new interim president. Charlie Arngaq has taken over the leadership of Avataq from Robbie Watt, who resigned in August to take a job as Inuit health coordinator with the new Ottawa-based Aboriginal Health Organization.

Arngaq will be the acting president until Avataq holds elections next August.
Arngaq, a resident of Kangiqsujuaq, is a former mayor of his community and one of the original signatories of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement. He has also served as a director of many local organizations.
