Man busted for smoking on jet

IQALUIT — A Quebec man faces a charge of "smoking on an aircraft" following an incident in Iqaluit July 1. Paul Aimé Beaudoin, 36, a resident of Blanc Sablon, was taken off a First Air flight bound for Ottawa when he was caught smoking a cigarette in the airplane's washroom shortly before take-off.

The RCMP detained Beaudoin and later charged him with Sec. 602.06 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, which deals with the offence of smoking in an aircraft washroom. Beaudoin will appear in the Nunavut court of justice on Sept. 5.
